it was real nice seeing pudge play with some fire. when he popped up at third pumping his fist after the triple, the season officially started for me.

first of all fatkidsports, Im not blaming the owner for making it "difficult" to get Opening day tix, Im blaming him for making it IMPOSSIBLE to get them unless you by season tix. Dont know how much you keep up with Detroit sports, since now you are in Seattle, but many people are pissed. My argument, being a season ticket holder through the lean years of 1992-1998, is make at least 5,000 Opening day tix available to the public. I Read some of your blogs, and Im not sure how long you have been gone from Detroit, but this is the same thing that happened with the Wings. Thats why half of the playoff games dont even sell out now, cuz Ilitch wants you to buy a package for NEXT season to get Wings playoff tix THIS Season!

You seem like a great sports fan on your blog, but your response to my opinion on this is like you are attacking me. So I take it an average fan in your opinion shouldnt have a shot at buying tix for opening day, like the old days by waiting in line and hoping to grab a couple?

I wont be "on my knees kissing the feet of Mike Ilitch for putting together this team" as you say I should, because when the team was losing, opening day tix were always up for grabs. And what I mean by a "real" or "die hard" fan is someone who isnt on there cell phone for 7 innings, or someone who goes to a game in July in there 3 piece suit, who scored the tix from the big boss.....

You seem pretty knowledgeable in sports, and I think I am also, after readin some of your blogs, you sound like a die hard , thought your opinion would be like mine on somethin like this..........but hey, thats why there opinions

You're blaming the owner for making it difficult to get Opening Day tickets?

Are you high?

Those tickets are always the toughest ticket of the season, regardless of the level of play down at the corner. To think it would be anything other, especially now that they are contenders, is naive at the very least. Offering opening day tickets to people who buy season packages is not new either. That's been going on for at least nine years, they just haven't moved enough packages to be sold out by the time single-game tickets went on sale.

You ought to be down on your knees kissing the feet of Mike Ilitch for bringing in Dombrowski and opening the checkbook to allow for this ridiculously stacked lineup.

There are only so many tickets available for opening day. There are more people who want to go than tickets available. How are they meant to distribute them? Have people take a quiz to determine how big a fan they are? Give me a break. Everyone has the SAME chance to get those tickets as everyone else. If you go to 30 games a season, as you claim, why not invest in a ticket package if opening day is so important to you? It certainly isn't as if you couldn't sell the tickets you couldn't use. The park is gonna be packed for every home game.

Don't blame the owner for making the Tigers the hottest ticket in Detroit in a LOOOONG time. Thank him, suck it up and get your buddies to invest in a season package or go to the bar and watch opening day and go to game two. They're ALL important games anyhow.

I live in Seattle. I'll be lucky to make it home to catch even one bloody game this year. It's driving me crazy!
